FROM THE AIRPORTS TO THE CITY CENTER

From Roissy - Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) CDG airport is 23 km north east of Paris. The estimated journey time, by various means of transport, is 45 to 60 minutes. All costs are indicative.

By train: Paris� high-speed trains (TGV ) at the heart of Europe

The French National Railway Company (SNCF) is the main operator of the rail services, including the TGV, France's high-speed rail network.

  • 7 train stations linked to 145 French destinations and 20 European capitals
  • Gare de Lyon: TGV to South of France and Italy
  • Gare de l�Est: TGV East to Frankfurt, Stuttgart or Munich and to Switzerland
  • Gare du Nord: Thalys to Brussels, Amsterdam and Eurostar to London

Transport in Paris

Paris offers a large range of possibilities to move freely and in an eco friendly manner. One can choose between the metro, the bus, the tramway, but also the Velib� self-service bike system .

Metro, RER, Tramway

Paris Public Transportation (RATP) is very easy to use and, given the traffic congestion in Paris, is often much faster than taking a car. The various lines are numbered and colour-coded. You need to identify the number of the line and name of the station at the end of the line in the direction you wish to go so that you know which way to go in the station.

Velib� self-service bike system

Take a bike, return it where you like, V�lib� is a self-service bike system available 24 hours a day, all year round. To access the service, buy a 1-day or a 7-day ticket online or at any V�lib� station or sign-up for a long-term subscription!

Parisian taxis

Taxis in Paris are licensed and 17,000 taxis operate in Paris, day and night. The special equipment comprises:

  • the illuminated �Taxi Parisien� sign on the roof of the taxi
  • a display meter showing the cost of the journey
  • a display at the rear of the vehicle and visible from the exterior which enables the monitoring of the daily duration of use of the vehicle
  • a plate fixed to the front right-hand wing of the vehicle bearing the licence number

Attention! Anyone claiming to be a taxi driver who does not have a specially-equipped vehicle is illegal.
